After trawling the net for the right vehicle, I found what I was looking for at Ideal car centre. I was pleasantly surprised that the owner of the business answered my call on his mobile around 8pm. He gave me a thorough and accurate overview of the vehicle, walking round it as he described the condition. I found his approach very refreshing because he came across as straightforward and honest. Without pressure he took a £250 holding deposit. Since the call and as the sale proceeded, he was very helpful, quick in response and honest. On collecting the vehicle he took time to ensure that I was happy, collecting me from the train station. My overall experience was excellent throughout. I would highly recommend them and encourage peace of mind in trading with them. Thank you Ideal.

Questionable knowledge believes a timing chain lasts a lifetime and never needs replacing. Won't negotiate

Whilst we are sorry you are unhappy, this review is utter nonsense. You have only left a negative review because we have ALREADY sold the car you enquired on at the asking price while you were messing about. This negative review is simply sour grapes. Firstly, our car is already the cheapest out there and you initially offered £1,000 less than the asking price, over email, with no intention of actually buying it. We had so much interest at the asking price as it was so cheap, we had no reason to discount it as evidenced by the fact it sold at the asking price within days of us advertising it. Leaving a negative review because we would not knock money off the car because it was already cheap comes across as very pathetic. If you were not happy with the price simply enquire on a cheaper one instead of ours. Secondly, the whole point of a timing chain rather than a belt is literally that they are DESIGNED to last the life of a car. They do not have a recommended change interval like a timing belt. Timing chains do not tend to fail, and only tend to get replaced because the chain tensioners sometimes fail and the chain then stretches and makes a rattling noise. You would usually ONLY change a timing chain once it had become noisy, most garages will not change a chain simply for the sake of it. We did not say that they NEVER need replacing, simply stated they should not need changing unless they become faulty. It sounds like it is your knowledge that is highly questionable but you did not want us to educate you. At all stages we treated your enquiries professionally and responded politely and swiftly, despite your rather aggressive and demanding tone. Again, a negative review left due to sour grapes, NOT through anything we have done wrong. Presumably this is why you chose to remain anonymous, although we have your details anyway.
